By visiting and interacting with this blog, you may be sharing some of your personal data with me. This privacy notice details how I use your personal data and what you can do if you’d like to have it edited or removed. Please note that this website is hosted on WordPress.com, which means that WordPress/Automattic also processes your personal data. For more information on how WordPress uses your data, please read Automattic’s privacy notice here.
Personal data processed through this website
Eating with the Rabbits processes your personal data when you visit the website, leave comments, send me messages via email or the contact form, and when you sign up to receive blog posts through email.
Depending on what you choose to share with me, I may process the following categories of personal data:
- First and last name;
- Email address;
- Website URL;
- IP address;
- Other personal data that you share with me (e.g. in emails or comments).
How I use your personal data
Comments and contact form: name, email and IP address
If you’re commenting on one of my posts or sending me a message through the contact form, you can choose to share your real name or just enter ‘Anonymous’ or a nickname. You may want to leave your email address if you want to display your custom Gravatar or if you’d like me to reply to you by email. You may also leave a link to your own website. None of these are required; I don’t need your real name or email address in order for you to comment.
However, WordPress always stores your IP address. WordPress uses this information for their anti-spam service, among other things. I personally don’t use it for any other purpose.
Having comments deleted
If you’ve left a comment on my website in the past and you’d like to have it edited or removed, let me know. If possible, please contact me from the email address that you used when commenting, so I can verify that it’s actually you who’s sending the request.
If you subscribe to this blog via email, I only need your email address. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of the email messages or, if you’ve already deleted the emails, by asking me to unsubscribe you manually.
IP address and location
When you visit this website, WordPress collects information from your web browser, mobile device, and/or server, including your IP address. It may use this information to determine your approximate location and provide me with site statistics (e.g. to show me how many visitors I’ve gotten from a specific country). For more information on how WordPress uses your data, please read their privacy notice as well.
I keep your data until it’s no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected.
If you comment on my blog, any personal data you include will be stored for as long as that comment remains online, i.e. until you request to have it removed or until my blog stops existing.
If you subscribe to my posts via email, your email address will be deleted when you unsubscribe.
If you send me a message through email or my contact form, I will delete your personal data after one year unless you specifically request otherwise.
Visitors under 16
It is not my intention to collect data about visitors younger than age 16. However, I can’t verify that all my visitors are over 16. If you believe I’ve collected personal data regarding a minor without parental consent, please contact me at email@example.com so I can delete their data.
Sharing your personal data with third parties
I don’t sell your personal data to others and I only use it for the purposes for which it was originally collected. However, I do use WordPress to host this blog and Gmail to receive notifications and messages from the contact form. This means that these third parties are also processors of your data. They may store your data outside the EU.
I take the protection of your personal data seriously and have taken appropriate measures to prevent unauthorised access and abuse. If you still suspect that your data isn’t being stored securely, please contact me through firstname.lastname@example.org.
Right to access, rectification, and erasure
You have a right to access your personal data and to have it rectified or erased. Additionally, you have a right to withdraw consent and/or object to the processing of your data. You also have a right to data portability: you can ask me to send you or an organisation of your choosing a computer file with the personal data I have from you.
For access, rectification, erasure or portability of your personal data or to withdraw consent, please contact me at email@example.com. I will respond to your request within four weeks.
Finally, you have a right to lodge a complaint with the national supervisory authority in the Netherlands, the Dutch Data Protection Authority. You can contact them through this link.
